Heartstats

The Brief

The British Heart Foundation publishes detailed statistics about heart disease in the UK. Distribution of this information had undergone a basic ‘print-to-web’ transformation, but a fresh web-based approach was needed. The site needed to deliver its essential information more imaginatively, whilst being both accessible to the public and comprehensive for health professionals.

Our Approach

Baigent worked closely with the BHF’s Health Promotion Group (BHFHPRG) to develop a lively site design that gave easy access to comprehensive information.

The audience includes health professionals, policy makers, researchers, students and the public. Different routes to information are thus available to aid visitors’ understanding and communicate the breadth of content available via the main site structure and navigation.

A colourful, accessible approach – including a Glossary and A-Z index - provides information for the general public. Health professionals and researchers can obtain detailed information and statistics via subject-based left hand navigation.

An advanced search facility searches the contents of both web pages and downloadable documents (all formats) to deliver comprehensive results for chosen topics. Baigent ensured information could be downloaded in various file formats (Excel, Word, PDF and Power-point), thereby supporting different users preferences.

The Results

Baigent’s imaginative approach took the project to the next level - the web now replaces the print version of this information for many users with typically 35,000 visits to the site in one month.

"I'd like to congratulate you on the excellent website you have produced for the BHF - so easy and efficient to use."
